Import event data using a spreadsheet to quickly build your event in Slidecrew.
The import tool lets you upload sessions, rooms, presentations, speakers, and moderators using an Excel file.
Step 1: Download the Template
Use our ready-made spreadsheet template to get started.

You can also use your own spreadsheet if it has similar data.
Column Types in the Template
Each column header in the template is colour-coded:
- 🟩 Green: Required details (e.g. session title, speaker name)
- 🟦 Blue: Auto-generated ID numbers (you can leave these blank)
- 🟨 Yellow: Optional info (e.g. stream links, bios)
- ⬛ Grey: Hidden column – don’t change this

What You Can Import
The spreadsheet includes sections for:
Sessions
- Title, type, time, date, and room
- Optional: subtitle, topics, stream link
Presentations
- Title, duration, subtitle
- Optional: abstract, panel/remote tags
Speakers
- First and last name
- Optional: email, job title, company, biography
Moderators (Session Chairs)
- First and last name
- Optional: job title, email, biography
Commitments with Multiple Speakers or Moderators
To add more than one speaker or moderator to a session:
- Add a new row with the same session and presentation name
- Replace the speaker or moderator details with the new person’s info
- Leave repeated optional info blank if already added earlier
Step 2: Upload Your Spreadsheet

- Go to the Imports tab under the Core menu
- Click Select file and choose your spreadsheet
- Check the column matches and use the dropdowns to adjust if needed
- Click Start import
Slidecrew will process your file and show a message when it’s done or if there is an error.

The import tool may have confused the month and day part of the dates, please follow the date format MM/DD/YYYY
Yes. Use new rows with the same session and presentation names
You can edit data manually after the import or clear the database, then try again with a corrected file.
