Use this guide to manage ePosters in Slidecrew, from Categories and visibility through to display options and app settings. Slidecrew’s ePoster software helps organisers display digital posters on site through the full ePoster App or, for simpler display needs, through the browser-based Web App ePoster Screen.
In Slidecrew, ePosters work in a similar way to presentations, but with different labels. ePoster Categories group posters in the same way that Sessions group presentations. Each ePoster belongs to one Category, and Categories appear in the ePoster App as groups that attendees can browse.
Before you start
Before setting up ePosters for an event, check that:
- The event includes ePosters.
- The ePosters have been added manually or imported into the event.
- The ePosters that should appear on-site are set to Public.
- You have a device for each ePoster station.
- You know whether each station will use the full ePoster App or the Web App ePoster Screen.
- If the station needs branding, the relevant Style has been prepared.
Add or import ePosters
You can add ePosters manually in the portal or import them as part of the event programme data.
For manual setup, go to Programme → ePosters, then add the required Categories and ePoster records. Each ePoster should have a title, submitter information, file, Category, and Status.
For bulk setup, import ePoster data through the programme import workflow. This is usually better when there are many posters to add.
Manage ePosters with Categories
Categories are the main grouping structure for ePosters. They appear in the ePoster App so attendees can browse related posters together.
Create the Category before adding ePosters manually. If a Category contains only Pending or Hidden ePosters, it will not appear in the ePoster App.
Make ePosters visible
New ePosters start as Pending, and so do not appear in the ePoster App.
To show an ePoster in the App, open the ePoster in Programme → ePosters and set its Status to Public.

To make several ePosters visible at once, switch to List View, select the ePosters, and use Mark as Public.
Use Hidden when you want to remove an ePoster from the App without deleting it from the portal.
Supported ePoster file types
Slidecrew supports the main file types used for ePoster display:
- PowerPoint: animations, embedded video, and audio are preserved during conversion.
- PDF: fully supported.
- Video: supported as a standalone ePoster file.
Multiple files can be combined into one ePoster. Slidecrew stitches them together during processing.
Choose the right ePoster display option
Slidecrew has two ePoster display options.
Use the full ePoster App through the Slidecrew App Launcher when attendees need the complete ePoster experience. The full App supports browsing, multi-page viewing, video playback, ratings, comments, downloads, contact author, and per-device settings.
Use the Web App ePoster Screen when you only need a simple browser-based display for Public ePosters. It runs in a Chromium-based browser such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, so it can be useful on devices that cannot run the App Launcher or have limited memory, storage, or processing power.

The Web App ePoster Screen is deliberately lighter than the full ePoster App. It only shows the first page of each ePoster and does not support video playback. Video-only ePosters show as a still image, and PowerPoint ePosters with embedded video show the video as a static image.
Configure ePoster App settings
The full ePoster App has its own settings menu inside the App. Open it from the small green connection indicator in the bottom left corner of the ePoster App screen.

Enable Override global ePoster settings before changing per-device settings. Then choose which features should be available on that station, such as:
- ePoster rating.
- ePoster comments.
- ePoster downloading.
- Contacting the author.
- Banner display.
- On-screen keyboard.
- Swipe sensitivity.
- Categories shown on that device.
Global ePoster defaults are managed in the portal under Event Information → Other Settings. Device settings only override the global settings when Override global ePoster settings is enabled.
Add station branding
If Show banner on top of screen is enabled in the ePoster App, the App uses the logo from the device’s assigned Style as a wide banner across the top of the screen.
For ePoster stations, use a banner-shaped Style logo rather than a square or tall logo. The image should be at least 8:1, and preferably 10:1 or wider, in PNG, JPG, or GIF format.
Check the ePoster station before attendees arrive
Before opening the ePoster station to attendees:
- Confirm that the device is paired and synced.
- Confirm that the full ePoster App or Web App ePoster Screen is running.
- Confirm that the required ePosters are set to Public.
- Confirm that each required Category has at least one Public ePoster.
- Open a sample ePoster and check that it displays correctly.
- If using the full ePoster App, test any enabled interactions such as rating, comments, downloads, contact author, and video playback.
- If using a banner, check that the Style logo displays correctly.
Troubleshooting
If an ePoster is not appearing in the ePoster App, check that its Status is Public. Pending and Hidden ePosters do not appear.
If an ePoster Category is not appearing, check that the Category contains at least one Public ePoster.
If video or multi-page viewing is needed, use the full ePoster App through the App Launcher rather than the Web App ePoster Screen.
