If ePosters are not showing, first check the Status. Posters start as Pending and appear for attendees only after you set them to Public. A missing Category may not contain any Public posters. When the content is visible but features are missing, check whether the device is using the full ePoster App or the Web App ePoster Screen.
When a poster is not showing
New posters start as Pending. Change their Status to Public before testing them in the ePoster App.
To check the status:
- Navigate to Programme → ePosters.
- Click the poster.
- Check the Status field.
- Change Status to Public if it should be visible.
- Click Save.
A Hidden poster remains in the portal but does not appear in the ePoster App. Change it back to Public when it should appear again.
The station may not display a poster that has no file, or a file that is still processing. Check that the file has uploaded and processed before testing it on the station.
When a Category is not showing
Categories only appear in the ePoster App when they contain at least one Public poster.
If a Category is missing:
- Navigate to Programme → ePosters.
- Select the missing Category.
- Check whether at least one poster in that Category has Public status.
- If all posters are Pending or Hidden, change at least one required item to Public.
This only affects visibility in the ePoster App. The Category can still exist in the portal even when attendees cannot see it.
When the poster appears but features are missing
Check whether the device is running the full ePoster App or the Web App ePoster Screen.
The full ePoster App runs through the Slidecrew App Launcher. It supports multi-page viewing, video playback, abstracts, ratings, comments, downloads, contact author, and per-device settings when you enable those options.
The Web App ePoster Screen runs in a Chromium-based browser. It shows Public posters, but it has limits:
- only the first page of each poster appears
- video-only posters show as a still image
- embedded video in PowerPoint posters shows as a static image
- it does not support abstracts
- it does not include ratings, comments, or contact-author options
The QR code can still offer PDF download when the file allows publishing. Download availability depends on publishing permission, not only on which display route the device uses.
If abstracts, video, ratings, comments, or contact-author options are missing, confirm that the device is using the full ePoster App through the App Launcher.
Missing ratings, comments, downloads, or contact author
The full ePoster App settings control ratings, comments, and contact-author options. Downloads also depend on the download setting in the full app and on publishing permission for the file.
First check the event-level defaults:
- Navigate to Event → Event Information.
- Open Other Settings.
- Check the ePoster settings for downloading, ratings, comments, and contact author.
- Save any changes.
Then check whether the device has its own override:
- On the ePoster App device, click the green Connection indicator in the bottom left corner.
- Open the settings menu.
- Check the Override global ePoster settings setting.
- If enabled, check the per-device settings.
Enable Override global ePoster settings before any per-device setting below takes effect.
For downloads, also check whether the file allows publishing. If it does not, the PDF download option will not appear even when you enable downloading.
Publication Page issues
The Publication Page follows different visibility rules from the ePoster App.
Poster files appear on the Publication Page after the file uploads and finishes processing, subject to the event’s publishing rules. Presentation files only appear after their session has ended.
If the poster appears in the App but not on the Publication Page, check the Publication Page setup and publishing permission workflow.
Device-related issues
If no posters are updating on the device, or the App Launcher is not syncing, the issue may be with the device connection rather than the poster status.
Check that:
- the device shows the correct event
- the App Launcher or Web App is open
- the device has network access
- the App Launcher has finished syncing
- the correct display route is open
Use the App Launcher or Web App troubleshooting guide if the device is not connecting or syncing.
